| Got a delicate question that needs a thorough answer - just "ASK DEB"! Q. Deb, at what age can you start waxing? A. This is a sensitive topic. For facial waxing such as lip, I recommend waxing when there is concern from you child about "peer" pressure. Lip waxing can be done as young as 11 or 12 with consent of a parent. Bikini waxing for young girls is usually only recommended if there are in a sport or after school activity that requires the bikini line to be visible i.e.. swimming, drill, cheerleading. Age 15 would be appropriate with parental consent. I have had a few young girls with excessive hair begin waxing legs, underarms and bikini line as young as 12, but it is usually not recommended. Brow waxing starts about 12 or 13 but with a more natural shape. More precise brow shapes begin about 15-16.
Q. Can both men and women get a "Brazilian" wax? A. Yes, men and women can both receive a Brazilian bikini wax. It is recommended that you take AdvilŪ or some other over-the-counter pain reliever prior to this procedure. Check that your Esthetician uses a "hard" wax in the most sensitive areas as this will not damage the skin and removes hair in multiple directions. Q. How long does my hair have to be to get waxed? A. At least two weeks hair growth is optimum, however 1/4" is usually sufficient. Q. Should I trim my hair before I come in? It is REALLY long. A. Please do not trim before coming in. If necessary, I will trim during the appointment. If you trim at home, it is sometimes too short afterward and you would then have to reschedule.
